Joint Mobilization

What Is Joint Mobilization?

Joint mobilization can help you regain motion if your joints lose function or become compromised because of damage or an injury. The manual treatment involves hands-on techniques to increase an individual’s range of motion while reducing pain. Our expert physical therapists at Aligned Orthopedic & Sports Therapy have the experience and expertise to assist you through regular joint mobilization therapy.

How Joint Mobilization Works

When you engage in joint mobilization, your therapist will manually apply pressure and force on targeted areas to help improve your joint mobility. The techniques and intensity will vary based on your needs and comfort levels. Joint mobilization therapy aims to restore your joint’s normal function and motion.

Your therapist may also incorporate light exercises to activate your joints. Some exercises your physical therapist may use:

  • Extension
  • Flexion
  • Lateral movement and rotation
